Certified Aging in Place Specialist - The National Association of Home Builders and Remodelers (NAHBR) in collaboration with the NAHB Research Center, NAHB Seniors Housing Council, and AARP developed the Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist (CAPS) program to address the growing number of consumers that will soon require these modifications.
The Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) was created to help remodeling professionals meet the needs of 77 million Baby Boomers that will reach retirement age in the first years of the 21st century are the first wave sweeping this new American demographic tide. The CAPS program has been developed to help remodeling professionals meet the needs of this burgeoning market. CAPS program graduates are required to maintain their designation by attending continuing education programs and/or participating in community service projects.
Go Barrier Free has been taught the strategies and techniques for designing and building aesthetically enriching, barrier-free living environments. The CAPS program goes beyond design to address the codes and standards, common remodeling expenditures and projects, product ideas, and resources needed to provide comprehensive and practical aging-in-place solutions.

Building Industry Association (BIA) is a professional association who's membership includes builders, remodelers, owners, developers and suppliers to the single family and multifamily residential construction industry. BIA members number approximately 2,400 located throughout southeastern Michigan. We are affiliated with the Michigan Association of Home Builders in Lansing and the National Association of Home Builders in Washington, D.C. Across the nation, our membership includes over 220,000 individuals and companies.
