Our Senior Seminars

Consider our FREE workshop if you’re a church, parish nurse, synagogue, senior center, medical professional, OT, PT, discharge planner, non-profit organization, caregiver support group or any other group that may find value in an easy to understand workshop geared toward helping seniors live safely, independently and comfortably in their own home.  Our seminars will help you identify unsafe areas, fall hazards, inexpensive do-it-yourself remedies, as well as more elaborate solutions to creating a Barrier Free home, office or workplace.  Also explained are ways to screen qualified contractors and identify the red flags to minimize being “ripped off” by dishonest contractors.    

Many homeowners/caregivers recognize that their needs are changing but are unaware of the ways that their homes can be easily modified. A simple grab bar in the bathroom, additional lighting or ramp could allow them to remain in their homes longer in an atmosphere of increased safety and convenience. These improvements can be invaluable and are normally less expensive than moving.

The AARP and National Association of Home Builders and Remodelers (NAHBR) have developed a comprehensive and extensive program for Certified Aging in Place Specialists (CAPS) and Gordy is one of these few professionals in the State of Michigan qualified as an expert on this subject.
